Leave of absence procedure - Netherlands School Society

Just like in the Netherlands, school attendance becomes compulsory at the age of 5. There is an absence registrar in school which is shared with the school inspector from the Netherlands. If you’d like to request for a leave of absence, you may fill out a form at the admin office. The Principal will decide if the leave is permitted or not. As a school, we strongly advice against taking leave of absence outside of the designated school holidays.

Necessary leave

Necessary leave is a death in the family or close contacts. There can also be a medical reason for leave.

Voluntary leave

Voluntary leave for instance for a safari or to extend a holiday, is not permitted. The amount of holidays we plan throughout the academic year is such that the children cannot permit any other leave days. We expect parents to plan holidays and trips within the stipulated holiday schedule.
